Take Your Ice Climbing to the Next Level
Our Intermediate Ice Climbing Course includes personalized video evaluation of your technique, in-depth instruction in lead climbing, and an introduction to mixed climbing.  The personalized coaching and wide array of skills covered will result in rapid improvement of your ice climbing ability, comfort level and knowledge.

Personalized Video Evaluation
The course begins with an analysis of your climbing movement so we can immediately address any gaps in your technique.  Using video to record your climbing, we will help you recognize and correct deficiencies in your movement.  With this focused instruction, your ice climbing will quickly become more efficient, smooth, and confident.  Once this foundation is in place, we progress into more advanced techniques for steep ice, lead climbing and mixed climbing.

Improve Your Skills for Steep Ice, Lead Climbing, & Mixed Climbing

As your movement progresses, we will teach you how to conserve energy for longer and harder pitches of steep ice, and we will practice strategies for lead climbing.  Each person will have the opportunity to do several "mock leads" to get comfortable placing ice screws with one hand, finding rest stances, and building belay stations. We'll also practice techniques for mixed climbing and dry tooling.

Photos From Your Course Included

Your guide will take photos during the course so you will have a way to remember your ice climbing experience. There is nothing quite like a photo to record your once-in-a-lifetime ice climbing adventure. This service is included free of charge on all of our programs.

World Class Venue: The Ouray Ice Park

The Ouray Ice Park, with its convenient location and incredible number of climbs, allows us to spend the majority of the course time on the ice, honing skills and logging mileage.  Our guides know the Ice Park intimately and they will make sure you are climbing on the best routes for your ability and progress.

Link With The Intro Ice Course

This course can be taken immediately after the Intro to Ice Climbing Course for four days of cost effective, in-depth ice climbing instruction.  Taken together, the two courses will enable beginning climbers to rapidly progress in the sport.
