Ouray Ice Park Conditions

The Ouray Ice Park is off to a great start for the 2016-2017 winter season. Read on for an update on current conditions as of December 1, 2016.

This year at Thanksgiving, ice climbers in Ouray had something to be thankful for: cold temperatures. With nighttime temps in the teens and daytime temps staying below freezing, early season ice farming in the Ouray Ice Park has been quick and highly productive. Areas such as the South Park (photo above) are in excellent condition and on track for a seasonable opening date.

The ice climbing season in Ouray is off to a fantastic start. By all estimates, the Ouray Ice Park has as much ice – or more ice – than most other years at the beginning of December. We will continue to post updates as the conditions develop. Feel free to give us a call at 970-325-7342 with questions about ice conditions in the park or the backcountry. We can also be reached at info@peakmountainguides.com. Happy winter!
